Formats
A format can face any direction and work in a square or rectangle. A picture can be an example of several formats. In this book, the formats have kept the familiar peculiar names that I gave them in my scribbler.
Golden Mean
The ancient Greeks decreed that the best place for a centre of interest was the bisection of a corner-to-corner diagonal by a perpendicular line running to a third corner, and called this the "golden mean".
Similar Solution
Divide a picture vertically and horizontally into thirds, and choose an intersection for a focal point. This format is sometimes called "hot spots".
Finding Equal Parts
Angle a ruler until the overall measurement can be easily divided by the desired number of equal parts.
